Vacation

Today is the last day of vacation for the Mailman & myself. He has bee off for ten days & I have been off for five. We really would have liked to take off and spend some time on a beach somewhere (who doesn’t?) But right now it just was not in the cards. We decided that we did have to get out of town for a bit (otherwise we would have ended up watching 24 our whole vacation!) We took a mini vacation to Grand Casino, Hinckley MN.
We thought what the heck, take a less than two hour drive up north, stay in the hotel overnight and try and win some money.

The drive up was nice since it is so short, but just enough to make you feel like you have gotten away. We got to the hotel around 4 pm , got settled and had a little wine party......Then off to win some big money!

The shuttle bus ride to the casino was a trip in it’s self (we were at a hotel about a mile away from the casino) We were on the bus with five ladies that were in about their early sixties, totally the type you see at Vegas dressed in their gambling outfits (sweatshirts with cards on them etc...) While we were waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up theses women were just going on and on about their "hot flashes" and other menopause moments. The Mailman & I found their conversation highly entertaining, of course after a couple glasses of wine we were easily amused.. The ride to the Casino was a hoot, the menopause mommas were very high spirits (I think they may have had their own little wine party too) The shuttle driver was a character. Louie, the driver told us that we had the luckiest driver because he had won the Minnesota state lottery a few years back........of course the general question on the shuttle was "what are you doing working?" Louie explained that after he spilt it with the guys he bought the ticket with and taxes he was left with $100,000 He then he gave his two kids $10,000 each & that did not leave enough to quit his job. It was funny when Louie said anything good like "I won the lottery" or I gave my kids $10,000 the Mailman, myself and the menopause momma would clap & cheer for Louie..........and that’s the story of Louie

The Casino adventure was pretty typical sit in a very smoke filled place and throw your money away while Tring to breathe. Okay, we really did have a good time but it gets to that point that there is no fresh air in there and your eyes an lungs start to burn, and you think "wow, I just spent $20. in ten minutes".

The Mailman did have better luck than I did. He found a machine that he had just put $5. In and he was able to play on it for an hour with out having to keep feeding it money. That for me would be fine...just let me find a machine that will let me keep playing without feeding it my life savings (and also hit the $100,000,000 jackpot). We made it out of the Casino with out too much damage being done to our bank account.

In the morning on our way out out town we stopped at Tobbies for one of their "world famous"Carmel rolls.............the carmel rolls had just gotten out of the oven & were delicious. Anyone who has had a Tobbie’s carmel roll knows that fresh out of the oven they are to die for!
