The Mailman & Picasso Girl (Jeff & myself...for those not keeping score) Had an awesome Fourth of July weekend. We went to "The Wood’s" (parents land...Birchwood WI) camping. It was not the usual big group experience (ten people, two dogs, and a toddler) that the holidays at the woods are famous for. It was an more intimate experience with us and my parents. We had a great time.

My parents land is undeveloped (no cabin, no running water , no electricity...) They have developed it enough so they have a very cool campsite. Part of the deal with purchasing the land is they are members of the "Beach Club" that is about a mile away. The Beach Club has hot showers, real toilets, swimming pool, boat landing basically all of the things we don’t have in the woods . I will post pictures of the woods sometime in the near future.

The Mailman & I got to "The Woods" around 8 p.m Saturday (we both had to work on Sat. )
Set up camp. Then my parents took out to dinner at Tagalong golf course. I know that really does not sound like true camping (dinner at the Clubhouse). We get the best of both worlds at the woods. Had a wonderful dinner.

Sunday morning the mailman cooked us breakfast, eggs, bacon, hash browns...the works.

That afternoon we went to the Mikana (small town by Birchwood) for the Fourth of July Parade. It is just a trip to see this parade, it is such a slice of small town America. The town swells at least ten times past it’s normal population. The weather was great and the beer was cold. The parade last for about an hour. None of the big fancy floats here, all of them hand decorated.....and once again I will get so pictures up soon.

After the parade the four of us went into Birchwood so we could get some ice. I really just wanted to have a beer at the Blue Gill bar (a tradition) and getting ice was a good excuse. The Mailman and I went to the bar to have a quick one and my parents went to the "dollar store".
We went back to the campsite to have the traditional Fourth of July BBQ. Brats, corn, beans and of course some tasty beverages. We lit off some fireworks and thought we had some pretty cool ones, until the neighbors came out and put our dinky little show to shame. They had the big, huge almost professional looking fireworks. It was a lot of fun.

We left Monday afternoon. The weekend just flew by, we had a great time with my parents.
We watched fireworks from our parking lot. They were shooting off just down the road from us, so we had a great view and did not have to leave the house. All the neighbors were out and it was it was like a big party.
